Things have been busier than normal lately, but in a good way. I’ve mostly just been baking a lot (for the bake shop, Botton Cafe, and also High Street Market), but I’ve also had some pretty cool non-baking related things going on on the side, and even a small illustration commission. KARA (Korea Animal Rights Advocates) is a non profit animal rights group here that is doing a lot of great things to spread compassion towards animals and they asked if I would do an illustration for them to use in their anti dog meat campaign that happened last week. Here’s the original illustration that I did:
They ended up printing t shirts with it and the grey shades got lost in the printing process so it doesn’t look as good as I was hoping. But either way I’m glad I got to help them out with some doodles. And now I have a free tshirt!^^
And then earlier this week, I went to TBS eFM 101.3 for an interview with Ahn Jung Hyun on her 1013 Main Street radio show. She is a really well-known radio personality and TV host here in Korea, and on top of all that, she was the former presenter for the Pyeongchang Olympic Bidding Committee and the main host for the B20 Seoul Summit last year! I’ve known about her for ages (ever since high school?), so it was pretty cool to be in the same room as her. :) I was definitely nervous to be chatting with her on LIVE radio, even though it was for less than 20 minutes. I actually did a similar interview with her last year over the phone, but this was the first time meeting her in person. The broadcast was live and they don’t save old shows on their website so you can’t listen to it, but we just talked about what it means to be vegan, what it’s like to be vegan here in Korea, and what kinds of foods I eat, etc. I totally would’ve gotten a picture of the whole thing, but the day before, I had left my iphone in Cheonan by accident and my camera is in repair at the moment, so I was totally phone and camera-less! Bahhhh. Oh well. Perhaps next time. I did get to give her a loaf of vegan pumpkin bread though! hahaha. Just spreading some vegan love….
Speaking of interviews, here’s a written interview I did almost a month ago with Tamara from the Traveling Natural blog. She wrote so many nice things about me!! *sheepish grin* Anyway, I meant to share the link earlier, but forgot about it until now! Better late than never? Thanks Tamara!
And now onto some random eats!
Icy smoothie for breakfast~~ I think this one had frozen plums, banana, wheat grass, chia seeds, almond milk, and lots of ice cubes. Just what I needed to cool myself down, even in the morning. It’s so hot, humid and gross here!! I start melting even after 5 minutes outside, not even joking.
I think it was all the traveling last month or something, but all I want to eat these days is goooood Korean food. I’ve been eating most of my meals at home and my cooking unfortunately does not qualify as real comforting Korean food. So needless to say, I’ve been craving bab and banchan. My mom’s bab and banchan to be specific.
Lucky for me my parents actually live in Korea so I made a long overdue trip down to Cheonan over the weekend. I love getting away from Seoul and I needed it more than anything because I felt completely exhausted after last week.
Dinner at Garobee: rice, veggie bulgogi, jeon pancakes, tater tots, kkong katsu, mushrooms, kimchi. Every time I see tater tots, I think of Napoleon Dynamite.*UPDATE March 11, 2014*** GAROBEE has closed. :(:(:(

I’ve been averaging about one order each month and the shipping time seems to get quicker with every order! :) Seriously, I can’t even explain how much I love this website.
