Today I’m super excited to blog about one of my favorite bakeries in Seoul: May Bell Bakery (오월의 종)! It’s not new or anything– in fact, it’s been around for a while, but I’m excited to blog about it none the less. It is already really popular and much-loved in the Hannamdong neighborhood, and for good reason: they make seriously good bread.

To be honest, May Bell Bakery has a special place in my heart because the owner and head-baker helped me out a lot for the Window Bakery Collection. He played a big role in me having the opportunity to be a part of it in the first place. :) I loved the bakery before for its amazing bread, but now I know that behind this successful bakery is a generous, genuinely kind human being, which makes it that much more awesome.

Cranberry rye bread, Rosemary rye bread made from sour dough, and grain rye bread in the front. All vegan.

Every item is rustic, wholesome, and just the way bread should be. No weird, unnatural ingredients here.

Doesn’t it look so deliciously crispy good?! Carb heaven man.

Mini fig rye sour dough breads. 2,500won each.

My loot basket. Whole wheat bread and walnut-cranberry baguette. Delicious.

One of the bakers slicing up my bread. All the workers there are also good people and they will point out all the vegan options for you. No Probrem~

They open at 11am~~ One thing to remember is to go early as things sell out pretty fast. They only make a set amount for each day and once that’s sold out, they’re done for the day.
Directions to May Bell Bakery
There are two locations, both in the Itaewon area. The smaller shop is right along the main road though so it’s easier to find, but there is no seating. The larger main branch is a little more of a walk, but worth the visit.
Small street-side shop: Itaewon station, line 6, exit 2. Come out the exit and walk straaaaiiight, about 10 minutes. Pass the IP Boutique hotel and High Street Market on your left, and May Bell Bakery will be on your left a few buildings further. Open 11am, closed on Sundays. (naver map here.)
Address: 서울특별시 용산구 한남동 737-2 백목빌딩 1층 2호
Phone: 02-792-5561
Main Branch: To get to the main May Bell branch, turn left into the first alleyway after the small shop. Walk about 5 minutes. May Bell will be on your right on the corner (looks like a house). 서울특별시 용산구 한남동 745-11

Looks so yummy! I like the look of the rosemary rye bread!
Whats is the direct translation of the name? Fifth months’ bell?

Hi Clon! Yes, it literally means “5th month’s Bell”. The 5th month is May, so May Bell. :)

Hey! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing
months of hard work due to no back up. Do you have any solutions to stop
hackers?
